I remember reading a book as a child that Involved a disease that killed every adult ~16 YOA and older. It was about how the children, and one girl in particular survived this ordeal. Set in States. Thanks for help!

Try 'Empty World' by John Christopher. An orphaned boy goes to live with his grandparents in Winchelsea. Graqdually all the adults are killed by a mysterious disease. He travels to London, meets two girls. Does any of this sound familiar?
