When i was younger i read several times a fantastic book but i can't remember what it was called. It was about some people in a fantasy land going on a journey carrying burdens through places like the forest of despair and mountain of hopelessness. It was a hard journey and they had to overcome loads of hardships on the way. It had a very strong moral theme. The cover was removed and so was plain, an oldish book, earlier than the 80s. Think it might have been called 'the land of ....' Can anyone help?

Sounds like Pilgrim's Progress by John Bunyon - there are two 'version's - one in old english and one modern translation.

That is definitely the Pilgrim's Progress story but guess there could have been a simpler version written for children with a different name.

Question Author
it's actually based on pilgrim's progress. Enid Blyton wrote the version for children.
