can anyone recommend childrens books with no or not much peril in them?
my daughter doesnt like books very much and i recently discovered its due to the fact that she feels uncomfy when things go wrong for the protagonist. she doesnt usually read for pleasure, but recently finished 2X dick king smith "sophie" books in one day, so i'm looing for chapter books either in that vein or ones that are gentle

How old is she?
Would Enid Blyton be appropriate? Either her books about 'magical' things like the Faraway Tree, or teenager books like the Famous Five? I klnow they are very old-fashioned, but that could be an advantage, as they wouldn't seem so gritty and scary?

Try a website called Goodreads. It gives recommendations for different age groups with a short summary of the books.
Jacqueline Wilson books might be suitable. 'Four Children and It' is one that springs to mind.
Is she past Winnie the Pooh or Wind in the Willows?
sorry, just seen her age, scrub Winnie the Pooh but WitW might be about right.
Maybe some Roald Dahl? Or màybe Jeff Kinney, who does the "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" books. If she likes slightly more mature books, Diana Wynne-Jones is great (especially the Wizard Howl books) or Cressida Cowell's How to Train your Dragon Books, although both those two have an element of peril in the (all the best books do in my view).

It's a wee bit old fashioned, but maybe Joan G Robinson's When Marnie Was There could be a good shout. Very little danger, and the antagonists are.girls of a similar age to your daughter.
Maybe be some older books. Noel Streetfields White Boots or Ballet Shoes
swallows and amazons?
Narnia books
Hobbit
Colette ( in English) - I thought Claudine " will I ever be as happy as I was at school?" was an absolute drip
Let Professor Branestawm ride to the rescue! Norman Hunter's books are incredibly funny and ideal for 9-year-olds:

The only bit of peril is the accident - but without that there wouldn't be the rest of the book.
Or Terry Pratchett.
There are about 6 Sophie books, my daughter loved those. Dick King Smith wrote a lot of books about animals, Martin's Mice is a good one, anout a cat that keeps mice as pets.
Plenty of pony books, if she likes animals? Josephine Pullein-Thompson etc.
Wrong author, I think. Will look again.
Ruby Ferguson is better.
