what's the name of the film

all i can remember is that its about a man and a woman that go to this weird village and theres a man there that's writing a book where everything he writes comes true and at the end the woman ends up reading from the book after the man who wrote it turns into newspaper out of which all the beasts from hell come out to chase the man. then the man wakes up in the middle of nowhere with a copy of the book which he throws away, he then catches a bus but falls asleep. he wakes up and everything is blue supposedly changed this way becos the man that wrote the book has some godlike ability, but then he wakes up again and everything is normal. it sounds crazy but i really want to know what its called so i can buy it. please help:)

Does it have sam neill in hit? It maybe In the Mouth of Madness, thats the only one I can think of. Its by John Carpenter
