Boudicca Hairstyles
My elder daughter is obsessed with Boudicca and would like to know the name of the special hairstyle adopted by Celtic and Iceni warriors before battle.
It's a plait that hangs over the right or left ear according to the picture she is shoving under my nose. My suggestion of 'side plait' has been treated with scorn. (She knows it's not a French or Jewish plait, so I can't fob her off with those.)
Help, please????

Just a suggestion, but how about if your daughter takes the picture to a haidresser, and asks if they could do it.
I reckon it was made up by a film studio too. The closest I've found to what you mean is a Dutch braid done on one side of the head only.
There's a picture here http://www.dreamweaverbraiding.com/braid_examples/braid_examples_other.htm called "Dutch Horseshoe unpinned".
I've also seen it called a Swedish crown when it's done all round the head rather than left to hang down one side.
When I had long hair, I used to do mine like this sometimes for work. It took ages.
