Beginning next week, cinemas are showing a narrated film of the Rijksmuseum Vermeer exhibition. Not quite the same as being there but the next best thing. I have just got myself a ticket.

great, many thanks for that, Toorak, I've booked a seat for next Tuesday.
Question Author
Fantastic - hope you enjoy it :-) I am looking forward to it.
I'll buy you some popcorn if we're sitting next to each other
Hussy
now don't you go mocking my hunger for fine art
Question Author
Sitting next to each other is unlikely but it seems to have got anne in a tizz :-)
I don’t like popcorn but if we’re sitting together I can bring Guinness.
Question Author
Guinness is good - do you like Vermeer.Gness ?

I was so disappointed that we couldn’t go to the exhibition in person but this looks great.

I will make sure that I take popcorn into the cinema with me to annoy all my fellow cinema-goers :-;

Or maybe not…
I love Vermeer, Toorak. One of the artists I would do a quirky lesson on with the children at school.

I like silence in a theatre or cinema. Anyone making a noise of any sort will get a shush or slap on the hand from me so maybe ditch the popcorn and sit very still. ;-).
Question Author
Gness - I agree: chomping is a definite no no in cinemas

I love Vermeer and dutch golden age art more generally. I did a short university course on it and found it fascinating.
Never did any courses and certainly didn’t study any artists at my school.
When I was asked to help with some art classes I became a little left field and it took off in a few schools in the area. Vermeer and a few others were so easy to get the children enthusiastic about. Another was drawing your classmate in the style of Picasso. That was fun especially when the kids decided to include the staff. :-)
Question Author
Drawing your classmate sounds fun (and dangerous) :-)

Goodnight Gness - busy day tomorrow :-)

Thank you for this. I hope you enjoyed it. I went today and thought it was fabulous (and sold out - unusual for a small provincial theatre). I would still have preferred to be there but probably learned so much more this way.
