I used to work in the office of one in Holborn diagonally opposite the tube station - Amandini's - not sure if it is still there. Doubt the same people would be even if it was.
There are so many around that area. All the ones I used to go to are probably long gone. Isola which appears to be a chain gets very good reviews. One I can remember was down a side street across the road from Selfridges but we are talking years ago
Used to be an Italian restaurant on the Edgeware Road Paddington. Called Trat West. It was on the west side between Sussex Gardens and Burwood Place W2. Might still be going though the last time I was there the area appeared to be dominated by Lebanese quisine
My daughter just recommended these...
Boca do Lupo...on Archer st
Bancone...2 restaurants...one in Soho, another in Covent Garden
Macellaio Rc Soho....39-45 Shaftesbury Ave
She says they are all very good.
Warning...she and partner are very particular...he's northern Italian...and are willing to pay
Not 'Italian', per se, but 'Mediterranean' (where there's clearly a crossover anyway):

It's amazingly cheap for central London at £14.90 (lunchtime) or £17.90 (evenings) for a 2-course meal and £16.90 (lunchtime) or £19.90 (evenings) for 3 courses. The food's very good too!
