As the English version more or less copied it, i did enjoy it and had forgotten that the entire second series was available to binge.
Think i'll give House a rest (got as far as Season 3, Ep 6) and beging watching BWD 2:-)

The more channels the more call for revenue from limited advertising, so the more pressure on budgets the more cheap offerings, and the faster the race to the bottom of the barrel of offered content.
It's one very good reason to have a publicly funded channel(s), properly managed, to produce quality viewing.

A spy amongst Friends
remember it is a drama - altho based on Philby
questions arise like: were they REALLY that incompetent ? the answer appears to be yes.
Ep 1 sc 1 is completely wrong - madame had swept up in a temper to MI5 head and trilled, "why are you still employing Kim, everyone knows he is a stalinist spy". MI5 head didnt.
Real production excitement for the "real" program ( very short - "we gave Philby a poke and he fled" ) and the drama ( much longer: "we poked him for four days and then he fled"). The very house where he was interrogated ( and allowed to flee from) in Beirut was found to be empty and used for the set.
Nicholas Elliott was never suspected. He went oops when Philby fled. MI5 head went "oops too". and they went on being incompetent.
good drama tho
