We couldn't believe that our 9 year old is obviously picking up on stuff from the news and media.

She suddenly blurted out, if Putin ends up claiming Ukraine it will be destroyed by that time, so why would you want to claim a destroyed country?

I couldn't answer to that.

Yes he would, it's the terretory. ...and it won't be destroyed, some bits will be but most of it won't. Ukraine is very rich agriculturally and in other ways.

Must just be me, but that sounds a very unusual thing for a 9 year old would say. Maybe not, I don't know

A new twist on getting Ukraine back on the boards?

When wars end somehow the wherewithal is found to rebuild bigger & better than before.

It's surprising what young people say. There's a young a girl, aged about ten, who lives near me, was playing with her friend. Instead of saying "what shall we talk about?" as most youngsters would, she said" Well Alfie, what's your topic of conversation for today?". Poor Alfie just said "what"?

11 yr old; "McDonalds are total hypocrites aren't they? Look at this paper straw. I've only had half of the drink and the straw is useless, but they give us the drink in a cup with a plastic top. Hypocrites!" Tis true folks! 😄

Of course when your cute offspring say, "dad", there's only two answers; how much? or where to? 😉

Or, my fault, too late..

Smowball,

We tend to underestimate children of any age to be honest.

Problem is these days their heads are filled with news and media. Its not something we had filling our heads with.

I just crave for a simpler era when children were allowed to be just that, children.

We are forcing them to be adults far to young and quickly.

If you are so concerned why are you not controlling her access to social media, media and such like?

I think you let her develop at the rate she wishes... each one.... ( Vygotsky's theory of education, which I have always thought was pretty obvious)

Yeah but some folk seem to want to make no progress whatsoever. A zero rate needs a bit of encouragement.

She sounds like a clever little girl. Don't stifle that.

Wait until she discovers 'boys' .

I was  on a bus once and a mother with her child were sitting in front of me.

The kid shouted out: Look at the big N*****.

The man got on the bus and went to the upper deck.

The child must have picked up that type of language from its parents.

I was passing thro my area and a three year old sitting on the doorstep whilst her father made a mobile call, lisped "Hello gay boy" at me as I passed and giggled

Dad ,listening just about had a convulsion. Her 11 y old half brother ( two wives, geddit?) had taught her the phrase - ( was he there, grinning all over his face at the fun?)

My brudda used to do  this sort of thing, lots of parental sighing and eyeballs cast up to the ceiling
