that describes most of the people on here if my TWAUs are anything to go by.

I am cringing a bit for him but to be fair there must be millions of people of his age who've never heard of a Knickerbocker Glory (that's more from my nan's era) and topiary, if you'd grown up in a city why would you know it.

Do they still have fastest finger first to get into the chair?

He must know something to get there.

I couldn't believe he didnt know the first question.

2 life lines to get to a bag! incredible!

They're only easy if you know the answers.

Knickerbocker glory was a thing in the Harry Potter books. It's not just old people that know about them.

Just watching it now, what a lovely woman, wearing green

"there must be millions of people of his age who've never heard of ....topiary,"

What has ropiary to do with age, Prudie?

It's something that has always been around. A lot of lack of general knowledge is simply  because people do not seem to be as inquisitive as they once were.

I think this has a lot to do with the internet. Instead of accumulating general knowledge, younger people seem to be of the opinion that if they need to find out what something is they will look it up.

I spent much of my younger days gathering information about all sorts of stuff. Much of it was useless but I'm quite handy at quizzes!

The chap the OP refers to appears to be highly stressed and the nerves have definitely got to him.

He did say he thought topiary meant shaping shrubs, but not knowing the first question had knocked him for six.

I feel for him.

He got 16k folding

Better than a smack in the face with a rose bush

Yes ,^^^^ I thought he did very well.  Good luck to him.

There have been times on some quizes where I would probably look the same, there was a screen of 16 'famous' faces on Pointless and I didn't know 1, even at the end the names mostly meant nothing to me!

He knew the answer to the fastest finger question which I thought was quite hard. If I was there it would have been ipp dipp doo.

There's lots of "General Knowledge" around these days which just didn't exist when we wrinklies were young. Mainly fed by the social media, covering hundreds of (very Z list) "celebrities", reality shows, facebook, tik-tok, twitter(X), instagram, linkedin, youtube, etc.  I would do very badly on questions from these spheres, but most kids would lap them up.

I'd flop on sport and films/film stars

One question on there was which one was a judge on both Strictly Come Dancing and BGT.  The answer given which they said was right was Alesha Dixon but they also had Bruno Tonioli in the list and he has also been a judge on both.  As this was a new episode why have question with 2 right answers and would I have lost if I had said the other.

It might be a new episode but it was recorded in Feb 23, before Bruno was on BGT

I wondered about that as well re Bruno Tonioli but just because it's a new episode on tv, it could have been filmed early in the year before Bruno was on BGT.

I'd be stumped on recent celeb/pop culture questions. One I found interesting on a previous series & something you might see every day (neither the contestant nor Clarkson knew) -

"What colour are the Gs in Google's normal logo?" (don't look it up!)
