Unclear question. Do you mean between Feb 1953 and Feb 1954 OR between Jan 2014 and Jan 2015, or between Feb 1953 and Jan 2015 ?

the clue says 'if you were born between Feb 1953 - 1954 and January 2014 - 15, what do you have in common?' 5 letters. I know it doesn't really seems to make sense . . .

Thanks for adding the letter count now- 5 letters.

The intended answer may indeed have been snake but if so the setter had messed up because although 1953-54 (well, February 14, 1953 to February 2, 1954) was the year of the snake, the  other was  actually 2013-14 not 2014-15 (and the dates were 10 February 2013 to 30 January 2014, so the end month of Feb is also wrong.

Moreover it was the water snake I think, as some snake years it's a different type of snake.

If so, it's not surprising the question has been declared void.

I received the quiz at the beginning of November and just printed out the questions to save for a family Christmas get together so didn't remember (or hadn't read) about it being a no asking quiz; apologies I wouldn't have asked. We had snake but couldn't understand the 'what have you in common?' if the answer was just 'snake' rather than 'you would both have the same sign'.

It was definitely a no asking quiz as George said and my copy had VOID printed next to the question.
