Spike Milligan on Room 101
I really need someone's help!
I am sure that someone out there must be able to help. I need to know Spike Milligan's reasons for putting Portsmouth into Room 101!
I am a junior school teacher in the city and am going to be getting my children to write persuasively about why Portsmouth is a great place to live. I thought Spike's 'attack' would be perfect to motivate them.
Unfortunately, all my trawling through the web has turned up is the fact that he was on the programme (which I already knew) and that he once advertised himself as Spike "I hate Portsmouth" Milligan for a show he did in Portsmouth.
Does anyone have any more information? What would be great would be a copy of the actual programme that I could show the children. I have approached the BBC for this but they charge 195 + VAT!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

to see if the Milligan episode turns up and get someone to tape it perhaps?
Many thanks for all of the suggestions and ideas. Particularly intrigued by the disparity between BBC and Granada's fees for programme licenses - don't we pay the BBC enough through our license fees?!
I taught the lesson today without the clip and gave them a letter supposedly from a disgruntled tourist - it was a great way to air some of my gripes about the city!
Thanks again,
