four tet

flaming lips
lambchop
american music club
tindersticks
kathryn williams
echoboy
ballboy
hopefully that'll do for starters. most of its acousticy type gubbins which is all very good as well some outthere/dancey/experimental stuff too. happy listening.
May I be evangelical on behalf of the wonderful Porcupine Tree (If I were a lazy music journalist I would probably call them 'a Floyd for the new millenium' but rest assured that's an understatement?

Also, if you like folky stuff and a bit of light dance, can I suggest the wonderful Afro Celt Soundsystem who fuse the two (but are more folky/ world than they are dance). Great stuff. Mmmm!
I would highly reccommend the new CD by Deborah Bonham 'The Old Hyde' - More folky sort of stuff includes The Bluehorses 'Dragons Milk & Coal' - Anything By Little Johnny England or Blazing Homesteads. The Dylan Project is worth a listen if you like Bob Dylan's music. Anything by Bob Fox, Anna Ryder, Eddie Reader, June Tabor or The Oysterband. I am also currently enjoying Queens of the Stone Age, The White stripes, Aqualung and Tenacious D.
Watch out for a brilliant new band called King Mantis - just signed by Pete Townshend's manager. (My cousin plays bass!!!).
I didn't post the question but I'm always open to recommendations so I downloaded a couple of Porcupine Tree and American Music Club songs and I liked them. If anyone fancies downloading some Ween I'd recommend 'Voodoo Lady', 'Mutilated Lips' and, if you really like stuff that's different, 'Reggaejunkiejew'.
