I have recently watched the film Titanic (Kate Winslett, Leo de Caprio version).

What actually happened to the necklace? Was it ever found? Did Rose have the necklace for all those years and drop it in the sea as seen at the end of the film?

From what I remember, she had it all the time, and dropped it into the sea at the end.

In the film she dropped it in the ocean right at the end of the film. Her fiance (played by Billy Zane) committed suicide after the wall st., crash of 1929.

She could have saved his career and his life by giving him the jewel back but she didn't and dropping it in the ocean was the gesture of the contempt she felt for him for trying to kill the only man she ever loved.
