I see England, I see France
Last week I saw an old episode of Moonlighting. the name of the episode was I see England, I see France, I see Maddie's netherworld. It immediately struck me as probably being a paraphrase, so I searched for that phrase barring the netherworld-part, and got tons of hits. I gather it's a 'teasing rhyme' (if that be the term) and that the last part of it would normally be I see (name)'s underpants. But even that sounds like a paraphrase to me, as if the origin was oh I don't know - a Churchill speech or something... "I see England, I see France, united in ..." etcetera. (Just fantasizing.)
Does anyone know anything about the origin - or if the rhyme is the origin.
Thanks in advance and for now, more personal thanks sometime next week.

Jude! You can't just say you have a date and not tell us if it's a third chap or one of the old ones! Get back here, wild thing!
I don't know what we were expecting on Valentine's Day, Vinny, but I think it may have been something along the lines of... I don't know... you showing us your special rug or something... would have been nice...
Shaney you really have a thirst for blood don't you. Did British television air NYPD Blue? That was one of my favourite series; I had a place in my heart for Andy Sipowicz, great actor that Dennis Franz. You should get it on DVD (or whatever it's called nowadays) if you haven't seen it already.
They were just saying on the radio how this has been the mildest winter in Stockholm since 1756 or in other words since they started to keep record of the temperature here. I don't like the cold but I'm still wondering what's what; is this the global warming.

"The one I met before Christmas", yes, but... <rolls eyes, sighs heavily> ...which one was that, Jude, was it Teabag ("I like it dipped 27 times")...? I don't know how you expect us to keep track, woman! /Dire Straits weren't bad and Telegraph Road is a great name for a tribute band. Are they on YouTube? I just had a quick look but as it's the name of a song there are too many clips and I can't be sure.
Ha ha, my nephew (not the two-year-old one, the middle-aged one) has taken to lying on a bed of nails! Well not all night or anything, just for a while. He says it gets the circulation started. He's had some problems since youth when he was on holiday and came back to his hotel in the middle of the night drunk, ignored the loud signs that the pool was shut down, dived into it - and learned it wasn't shut down for nothing but for the reason that there was absolutely no water whatsoever in it. It rendered him a fissure in the cervical spine; the doctors said he had been one millimetre away from becoming a tetraplegic.
His isn't this one but this site has the option to read in English, so: bed of nails
YAY, here I is!!!
thanks for your mails - no help at all, lol....but it did my poor broken heart good to hear from you x
Tarquers has sorted it, bless - it wasn't Tiscali at all, it was that bloomin' hippy & his wall building - I knew it was too high & a foo more frosts & that mortar will be out, mark my words :o)

He's speeded (sped?...spid?) it up too so I'll be able to stalk you all around this site & some of those others you sneak off to as well! I was treated to a selection of his folky music of course....and some wild celtic transified stuff...think Riverdance on 78rpm!

Please please please tell me you're all having trouble with YouTube...? Hardly any of the thumbnail piccies (the ones that accompany each search hit) are visible to me, I just see the frames where the pictures should be. Please say it's not my puta... (If it is, how long does it take for Tarquin to get his riverdancin' self over here, Robinia?)
there she goes, off to change her outfit again...I'll be glad when they've sorted her 'ism' ....she might be around long enough to finish a sentence...

Hi Neti... bye Neti...

You know it's going to be a bad day when you jump out of bed and miss the floor.
