L S Lowry

Was anyone else lucky enough to meet LS Lowry. He attended one of our schools assemblies back in about1960 to 1962 as one of our "houses" was named after him, quite an honour for him as the other three were long dead. I remember him being a giant of a man (poss because I was about 8 years of age) in a blue suit with a long beige mac over the top...An amazing man

rosascool. My hubby will be green with envy when I tell him you met THE great man. We have Lowry prints all over the house. I wanted to buy an oil painting,the minimum price was �300 and that was for a tiny painting! Great artist all the same:-))

I can't help thinking that the new glass-&- plastic Lowry Gallery is a bit farcical - surely it would have been an ideal theme for refurbishing some historic old mill or factory building... (it is obviously much more profitable to demolish and redevelope!)
