I'm reminded of a pun in an old British radio comedy series. In it, an actor playing the part of a cowboy explaining his harshness said: "After twenty years in the saddle, I grew a little callous."
Seriously, can one develop a callus from being hit? I should have thought these came about more through constant wear/friction rather than striking. But what the hey! You're probably right.

I considered that aspect, Q, and came to the decision that, lacking sufficient clarity in the question, a defintion of callousness would seem to fit; i.e.,unfeelingness: devoid of passion or feeling; hardheartedness. A stretch, I know, but perhaps fills the inquirer's post. A Jewish friend used to say, regarding a person who couldn't make up his mind on a subject, that 'he had flip-flopped so many times, he had a callus on his frontal lobe'... oh well, you had to be there...
