Mike I don't think its worth a penny, I found it in a skip out the back of a charity shop, its just that I love it & would like to know if anybody else has heard of his work.
Hi, Shanley. I have found a huge oil on canvas by Letterman also. It's retro, too. A huge tree and two smaller trees in browns. Behind is a beautiful sunset in oranges and beige. Wow, I love mine as much as you love your's. I am researching for artist, but have found nothing. Have you? Helen.
I too have a signed Letterman Painting. It is of a sailboat in the sunset. It appears that Letterman works in browns and shades of brown. This painting is HUGE, 5' X 4'. Picked it up at an estate auction last year. We plan to use it in our livingroom above a new leather couch. We would like to find out more info on this paintinf as well. I have seen a couple LARGE ones like ours,(not a sail boat but oil derricks), on Ebay listed for $2,500. but I doubt seriously it's worth THAT much, but it IS beautiful and it DOES appear to have "value". Framing is nice too! ANY info ANYONE can provide would be appreciated! Thanks! Claude007 (Please email direct. I do not come to this forum often...[Email address removed as per site policy. - AB Editor] Copy paste the address or it won't be right....trust me!) :-)
I have a Letterman, have never found out anything about this artist...tere are so many of them it's weird there is no history. I went to buy an appliance downtown here in Livermore, CA and the manager had a letterman in his office. I brought mone cross country from New Jersey..what are the odds?
I too am bidding on an auction for a letterman painting. I did do some research and they do appear in auctions of "estates". So I tend to think the painter would be painting in the 60's, 70's or 80's. He also does abstracts, landscapes and the "resting cat" as it was called in an auction catalog. What a mystery artist. I can't find a thing else out. Seems kind of strange to have so MANY paintings, everyone has heard of you, yet no history. What do you think? Maybe a "ghost" painter of somekind....like authors do??
I also have a Letterman painting, but mine is greys with huge pink flowers. Has anyone ever had their paintings appraised? Please let me know directly if this thing is worth anything.
Also have a 4x5 ft. Letterman on canvas. This is a series of sailboats (4) side by side, with a huge sun in the background. Everything done in browns, blacks and orange. Wouldn't part with it for the world but it would be nice to know a bit about the artist and the painting's value (if indeed, it has any). Tom G., Lake worth, FL. [email protected]

I am in Australia and also have a Letterman oil painting 5*4ft in browns beige & grey of palms and white sun. We would love to know where in the world our painting orginated. One mans trash is another mans treasure! We are intrigued to know what it maybe worth and who is this mystery artist.

Ebay has 2 paintings by Letterman for sale. Very retro. But don't have any info on the painter.

Mine if of a white long-hair cat lying on a black and bronze sofa. Very striking. Also bought it at an auction, in Alaska!

Hi ssleague

I just bought a resting cat by Letterman. At a humane society auction in Alaska. White, long-hair cat resting on a black and bronze sofa, black background. It's a stunning painting.

Which auction was offering Letterman paintings? I would like to perhaps buy another one!

Carmen

Carmen,

Is your "Resting Cat" an original or print?

Regards,

Carlo

Crosales,

My resting cat is an original. Any idea who Letterman is?

Carlo

In fact, I assume I have the original resting cat but I'm not sure. It's an oil painting, the signature looks like the ones I have seen on EBay but who knows?

How can I tell for sure?

Carmen

I have a Letterman Painting signed in block letters very beautiful painting very realistic oil painting reclining on a sofa.  I would love to compare signatures  Does anyone have a signed Letterman so that I can view the signature??  Monet painted the waterlilies many times, some painters do that.  I would imagine there are many cat paintings by Letterman.

I have several Letterman's.  I love them and don't care if they are worthless.  I know nothing about him and am very interested in finding out anything about him.  Hope someone knows.

I live in Texas.  I also have a Letterman oil painting.  It is a sailboat with a full moon.  It has a background of a city with a cable bridge in it.  It was in my house already when I moved in.  It has been hanging in the same place for 5 years now.  I was going to get rid of it when one of my friend told me to research it on the net.  I have not found out much about the artist yet.  His painting seem to have poped up all of the place though.
I have a 4' by 4' Letterman retro painting, oil on canvas, brown, beige, grays.  It is a circle which is geometric in nature with lines of different colors, sizes, lengths, etc.  The painting is amazing to look at.  The artist used a thick medium to give a three dimensional effect.  It is an original that I bought at JC Penney in Dallas, Texas in 1980.  I too am looking for answers about the artist.
Hey I also have a painting that's on a canvas with oil paints it's sighned in the bottom left hand corner By Letterman in big bold letters. Well I've tried to find at least something about him on the internet and I can't find anything. If found something out about him by now please email me back. :0 Thanx , *Alexia*
