malory blackman's trilogy: naughts and crosses.

A moving and thought provoking trilogy for teen readers. Very sad and a commentry on our world today.

My daughter has just read the first two: Naughts and crosses and knife edge. We have ordered Checkmate. I understand there is a slim volume that comes between the first two explaining more about callie and sephy. does anyone know what this is called.?

Also, this trilogy is forming the text of our major book project this year. We are using it as a subtext to the south African issues of our age and going also to look at apartheid, martin luther king and the racist issues of our own UK and prejudice in other ways also.

Can anyone suggest any other activities or essay questions using these texts? I think we might also read roll of thunder .

Brilliant set of books.

The slim volume you mention is called 'Eye for an Eye' and comes between the first two volumes. It was specially published for World Book Day 2003 (ISBN 0552549258).

It's out of print, but you may be able to find a copy lurking with an Amazon agency seller.

There has been mention of including it with either the first or second volume in future editions.

Hi there saxyjag, I know she does visit schools, but my daughter is home educated and I don't really have the relationship with any local schools to be able to join in with them.

But never mind, I'll talk to the library and there might be something they can do?
