Does anybody know if there will be a production of this Sondheim musical coming to London in the near future? Thanks.

Hi Pickle - thanks for the kind words! I saw the Sunday production twice at the Menier before it transferred - am contemplating going again. It is mind-blowing: probably my all-time favourite Sondheim score but the show is completely reinvented with technology and it works sooo well. Thoroughly recommend it to - well, anyone really!
Saw the Sweeney at Guildford before it went West End. Enjoyed it but wasn't happy about the cuts! Bit of a purist really...

Covent Garden have already done Sweeney - in late 2003! I was dreading it (hating the concept of operatice voices singing 'theatre') but actually enjoyed it. Thomas Allen and Felicity Palmer did a superb job and the whole staging was excellent. One shocking moment was when Pirelli's hand sticks out of the trunk - Sweeney lifted the lid, hacked off the whole arm and tossed it into the wings! The gasps (and a few screams) from the audience were classic.
Into The Woods - another goody, and the DVD of the Broadway production is excellent if you can't get to a live show.
I said I was a Sondheim nut!
