Author suggestion?

I am looking for advise on a good author, I currently read Dan Brown, Patricia Cornwell and do like thrillers... so am maybe looking for suggestions on a similar theme or maybe some alternatives like a good romance... open to any suggestions

I've read books by both those authors and really enjoyed them so you might like James Patterson, who's written loads of thrillers (I'm reading his latest 'The Lifeguard' at the moment). They are very american, fast paced but beliveable and great twists and turns. P J Tracy is another good thriller read, quite violent but also full of twists.
My friend has just started me on Jodi Picoult, who is a excellant author, some romance and a really good read, very good tales of life, esp. My Sister's Keeper. Check out her website www.jodipicoult.com.
Another great author is Paullania Simmons (not sure I spelt that right!) her books are brillant, they have made me laugh and cry (like Jodi Picoult). I read Tully years ago (which is great) and her latest 'The Girl in Times Square' recently and loved it.
I've just finished The Traveller by John 12 Hawes, which was good, it's meant to be the next Dan Brown and is part of a trilogy. It was a bit sci-fi then i ususally would go for but not over the top.

My favorite book of all time is'To Kill a Mocking Bird' by Harper Lee. It's a classic, it's set in the 1930's and told through the eyes of a brother and sister, I wont say any more but would definitely recommend
it!

Robert Goddard is brilliant and I highly recommend James Lee Burke and Henning Mankell.
Peter Robinson ,Michael Connolly ,Val Mc Dermid,Lee Child.
There are lots of brilliant thriller writers out there and some not so good !
Agatha Christie is still very popular ...our local library has just got a load of her books in and I am enjoying reading them again.

I agree with blue2 James Patterson is brilliant, I also like Iain Rankine's Rebus series which is a bit like Taggart in book form
Labrynth by Kate Mosse is supposed to be really good too my mum has leant it to me to read and she thought it was really good

The Dice Man by Luke Rhinehart is a book like no other- part suspense, part drama, part black comedy, part sociological study, a true cult masterpiece.

i would read rebecca by daphne de maurier ( not sure if i spelt that right) its sort of got a bit of romance but with some mystery and good twists. i really enjoyed it

Lee Child's 'Reacher' novels are fantastic - must be someone getting reay to film one any time soon. It helps if you read them in order, but it's not essential.

If you're looking for something different, instead of a romance, try Alexander McCall Smith's 'The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency'. This is an absolutely delightful series about a female private investigator in Botswana. I really enjoyed reading them and would recommend them to anyone. Make sure that you read the books in the order they were written, starting with 'The No. 1 ....' That reminds me, I really think I will follow my first instincts and write to the author to beg him to write another one!
