i'm not sure if this is what happened, so can somebody verify this or correct me

did Danglars lose his fortune because Edmond kept bribing the man at the telegraph kept changing the telegraphs?

Danglars lost his fortune because of something to do with him giving The Count unlimited credit at his bank and then Monte Cristo tampering with the stockexchange -thats where the telgraph comes into it if I remember rightly. It's been a while since i read it and i'm a little hazy. Wikipedia have a great explanation at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Count_of_Mont e_Cristo
