Home made kilns

Has anyone ever built a kiln? I'm thinking of a pit kiln or a paper kiln.

Any advice welcome.

How much smoke will there be? (will my neighbours sue?)

What fuel should I use?

How long does firing take and what temparature could be reached?

i have looked this up in the past and found some great step by step instructions.

i cannot remember where or what it was called though but i know its there, so try googling
