In my book, just because someone creates something from an idea, whether original or not, doesn't necessarily make it 'art'. It's merely a creation. "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder", etc, etc. A lot of the stuff presented to us these days is stuff which you or I also could have produced - only we didn't.

It isn't just you! I once read that someone castigated Whistler for 'throwing a pot of paint in the public's face' or something like that, so God knows what these latest Turner Prize people are doing. But what about the people who pay to see this rubbish, praise it in their columns, and actually BUY it? I think it's just another manifestation of Emperor's New Clothes syndrome. I also read about a work by Mondrian or Klimt, one of the non-representational guys anyway, which hung upside down for years and nobody was any the wiser. At least you can tell Tracy Emin's horrid bed is the right way up!
