Should Full stops be used with bullets?

If you are using bullet points in a document should you place a full stop at the end of each sentence / statement?

Start your list with a colon: Then each statement should end with a semi-colon; Like this; Until the last one; Which should end with a full stop. Easy!

The bullet in itself is sufficient to indicate separation between the elements of the list. The only punctuation I would use would be the introductory colon - and that only if you think it necessary in the particular circumstances - and the concluding full stop.

It depends partly on the length of the points. If some or all of the points consist of more than one sentence, then it would be illogical and confusing to have a full-stop in the middle of the bullit point and not at the end. But if they are short. then I think it depends on the type of document - if it is fairly formal (eg a college essay), then SusieEllen's semicolons seem appropriate; but if it is informal (eg newspaper ad), then Quizmonster's no punctuation seems best.
