No, not at all. Quite the opposite. From what I remember, and I dont have the text to hand he calls Nora a 'squander bird'. and according to an online version of the text he also says 'Has my little spendthrift been wasting money again?' There's a starting point for you....but read the text yourself, honestly, it's not difficult, it's in the very beginning of the 1st act.

ISnt she eating sweeties she has been forbidden in the opening lines ?
howver you could balance this with if he knows she is bad with money, then why is he so surprised when he finds out she is deep in debt ? Sorry Act 111 or later
