Apologies for the typo in my first post (looks OK in a mirror though).
I actually used characters beyond those mapped to the standard keyboard.
 Bullet (Alt + 0149)
 En Dash (Alt + 0150)
These are obtained by holding down the left Alt key while typing the four-digit number using the number keypad.

First of all my apologies to you tell-me-more for using your post to ask other questions.
And thanks kempie and boo for your input.
I should have thought of the character map.
(I'm showing off a bit with all the italics - I couldn't have done it before you showed me how, boo, or rather your link did).
Can you read morse kempie? Not many of us left, if so.

No worries baldhair. It's all good stuff, and my question has already been answered.
I also found out that Nokia use morse in their ringtones for messages (SMS) and calls, their ascending ring tone spells CONNECTING PEOPLE.
What about the horns people use at football matches? _ _ .. _ .... _ _?
Any other interesting usage?
I think I should learn morse and teach people so I can communicate when I go on a night out somewhere noisy. Seems easier than BSL.

If you watched the Inspector Morse television series, tell-me-more, you might remember that he (Morse) always kept his first name secret. Rumour had it that it was spelled out in morse code in the closing musical sequences of each episode. It did resemble morse a bit, but I could never make anything of it. And I can't now remember what his first name was. It was an unusual one, and began with the letter E.
