Are Enid Blyton stories in the public domain....what kind of restrictions would there be if one was to use some of her stuff on a website?

If you are wondering whether the stories are out of copyright, the answer is 'no'. Enid Blyton died in 1968, and copyright lasts for 70 years after the author's death. Having said that, this very day - 31 Oct 2003 - the copyright laws are changing! I'd suggest you do a Google search to find out precisely what these changes are, though they are very unlikely to release Blyton's works to a public free-for-all.
Was it Beatrix Potter whose stories came out of copyright in the late 80s? I remember that another publisher put out a set of children's stories which had recently entered the public domain, but the original illustrations had been trademarked (or whatever the equivalent for book illustrations is) so they used photos of dodgy-looking toy animals instead.
