Are flowers appropriate for a leading man following the final performance of a play? Is there something else I should consider geting for my son?

Nothing wrong with flowers, but bottle of champagne or good wine is an acceptable alternative.

macdonalds gift card.
Depends on how old your son is!
In my experience most men do like getting flowers and someone told me once that Blue Iris are considered the most 'butch'.
As an actor I've often had flowers and have no problem with them - but I prefer something permanent: a thoughtfully chosen book (relevant to the production if poss) would be favourite.
