Removing lino floor glue

I have just ripped out a whole layer of lino from my kitchen to find that there are 2 layers of lino tiles glued to the original tiled floor.

Is there any particular brand of something that will remove this glue as currently half the kitchen is a no go area due to all this glue on the floor.

I'd like to remove this glue as the original tiles underneath are so lovely, no idea what possessed someone to cover over them.

Any help would be appreciated :D

I've had reasonably good luck with the enzyme based cleaner used to remove wallpaper. Here in the U.S., the brand I prefer is DIF but EZ GEL works almost as well. I get the best reuslts when the product is warmed above room temperature. I accomplish this by setting the spray container in a pan of hot water for about 15 minutes. Spray it on, let it sit and then spray on some more. The enzymes in the product loosen the glue and then using a wide (4 inch) putty knife, it scrapes off easily. Soap and water will clean up the residue...

Before you buy any chemicals etc, I would try a hot-air stripper 1st. Be very careful to heat up the adhesive very slowly, then try scraping it. You could also try white spirit as well. Not at the same time as you use the hot-air stripper of course.

Lay down some brown paper and use a hot iron to soften the adhesive. A small section at a time as the adhesive will set again. Worked for me
