Hello! Does anyone know of any good books about Jack The Ripper? I'm interested in reading about him/the events that took place and also about the conspiracies surrounding him. Thanks x

Try 'The Ripper and the Royals' - can't remember authors name but it explores the whole Royals/Freemasons theory

This may sound like a yarn but my ex husband's nan was born in the same building as one of the victims was found, george yard buildings and then when i was reading up about the case on the very very informative web site about the victims, which is an aspect people overlook, i was reading through all the witness statements about the known last sightings and movements of the women and one of the investogating constables that took the statements was called hawkes and he lived in the same borough of london as my ex husbands paternal ancestors, his nan was his maternal side.

try 'Uncle Jack' by a guy called Tony Williams. Its really fascinating and of all the theories i've read its pretty convincing. You can get it online at www.whsmith.co.uk for �6.39. The author basically started to trace his family tree and uncovered all sorts of info that could credibly support the claim that Jack was in fact the highly respected John Williams

Philip Sugdens Complete history is by far the best becasue it dosnt expound a theory,,it give you the most likely and unlikey options...the real gem however it the research quality and the de-bunking of myths grown out of irresponsible journalism and historical research by authors trying to sell books.

I agree about the P Cornwell book...it is terrible, using the most tenuous facts to try to tie her suspect to the crimes.
Using her methodology, i could have been the ripper because i used to live in London!!!
