Maths for adults

Not sure if this is the right place for this post but here goes:
My daughter is having Maths coaching from an ex head of maths who is inspirational and a perfect example of what good teaching is all about. What a shame he is retired! I did Higher Maths in Scotland back in 1976. I have always loved maths and numbers in general - they just make sense to me. This guy says I have a natural mathematical brain and should really do something with it. I am now keen to get back in to it and am thinking about perhaps doing A2 maths. Trouble is I have forgotten a lot of what I used to know. Does anyone know of any good books I could work through which would jog my memory and allow me to build up to sitting such an exam. I am seriously considering it as I would like to become a maths teacher. I am currently a musicianand a peripatetic music teacher and I am continually appalled at the standard of maths teaching if my daughter's experience is anything to go by!! They seem hell bent on compicating it whilst protesting that they are making it easier!

Also, you could investigate what you'll need to do to make the transition from music to maths teacher (that exam you mention, I would assume), get a sample paper and work on the gaps.
Good luck!
