Well, almost just 12 hours to go! I am a little bit giddy, I must say!
I just wanted to know, with all the talk of spoilers from the USA and early releases, if you knew you could get hold of plot info that had been leaked, would you? Or would it totally spoil your reading experience?
I would never look for plot info before reading the book, it would definitely dampen the thrill.
She was very evasive, of course, about the answers she gave tonight.. We shall all have to wait and see but I for one won't be giving the ending away. |My thoughts are that Harry will defeat Mr V but loose his wizarding powers as a result but Ginny will still marry him and they'll have lots of little wizards. Btw, Snape's good.
Blue Peter gave her a gold badge and I think her pleasure was genuine.
Wish I was a penny behind her.
You can rest assured my nose will be in the book as soon as I get home (I don't think I can steer and read at the same time but I might try) and the coffee will be flowing until my eyelids close of their own volition.
3 mins left.

I'm terrified to go near any type of media after midnight! I read a precis today and reread the last few chapters,to get me in the mood! I used to be a fast reader, but, don't have the concentration anymore for that :-( My neice is a really fast reader, and can always finish it in one day!
800 pages in one day? Really? That's very impressive.
I've got to wait for the postman tomorrow, which, given the rubbish service we get round here can mean anything from 8 till about 4!!! If it's not come by 12 I'm off to the bookshop! I will do it by the weekend though, if it means coffee and plenty of pro plus.
Meglet - you still there?
I very upset - it's heaving down and too wet for me to risk it.
I'm a liability on me crutches!
Somebody cheer me up, please.
Yes, thank goodness, but I'm really cheesed off.
I've been planning this for ages.
And I wanted my picture in the paper! Vanity or what?
Never mind. About an hour or so, I guess.
When she gets here I'll tell you the first five words if you like - but no more! And if the first five words give away the plot, you won't get them.
Any speculations on the first five words?
I'm guessing - "Haha! Fooled you" said Dumbledore!
Excellent, that made me laugh out loud. I'm trying to think how Dumbledore will feature. When he died he immediately appeared in a portrait in his office so we know that Harry could still have access to him in theory, BUT if Hogwarts is closed because of his death, as was suggested might happen in HBP, how will he get speak to him?
Well, dear ole JK did say this afternoon that Dumbledore is dead, dead, dead but there's a lot about him in this book.
Hmmmmm, food for thought.
I've often wondered why Harry has never come across a portrait of his parents he could talk to. Correct me if I'm wrong but photos don't talk like portraits, do they?
Not sure that photos talk. Photos seem to capture a moment in time, but you're correct that portraits talk as they did in Dumbledore's office and at 12 Grimmauld Place of the Black family. So maybe Harry doesn't talk to his parents as there's no portrait of them. If Dumbledore features alot in this book, that's got to be how. I predict Harry carrying out a a dawn raid at Hogwarts (either that or McGonagall will let him in!)
Well this has been delightful but
- I have a book in my hand!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't expect any communication from me, my friends.
In the words of Captain Oates "I may be a little while"

Mammar, meglet et. al, hope you have enjoyed what you've read. I have just finished. Feel odd. Floaty, happy and sad. Let me know what your feelings are. x
I finished it at about 3 o'clock today. I enjoyed it, but I guess it was a bit of an anticlimax after all these years. The story was fantastic and had me laughing in places, sad in places and at other times having to stop and think and piece things together. A fantastic story all told and I will have to read it again so I can appreciate more all the twist and turns and plot lines. JK's a fantastic writer and I would so welcome what she does next. Not that she needs to with half a billion in the bank of course.
(I did myself no favours by reading the last line half way through it, damn my impatience!)
It was magical!
Not much happened here till it was done - I paced myself and was done by 8.00am Sunday.
I don't think she could have done much better.
Let's leave it till everyone's read it then I'll ask you if anything made you cry / laugh / gasp out loud.
I did all of those!
Thanks to leelapops for this question that kept us going till it came out and meglet for keeping me company on the night.
I'm back to Wilbur Smith now. There's a new sequel out to his Egyptian saga.
