Also like stories about ordinary people, with faults who make mistakes and have regrets, while they live their 'ordinary' lives. 'Behind the Scenes at the Museum' by Kate Atkinson and 'Catcher in the Rye' are my favourite thus far of this type, have reread them many times and am moved by them every time

It depends on my mood too. As an Eng. teacher, I read "serious lit" all year. I am a little ashamed to admit I love "Chick-Lit" and "Beach Reads" (Sophie Kinsella, and the like.) But I do enjoy a serious book now and then and get tired of easy reads and need to challenge myself once in a while. I have discovered some good, but unusual texts for the older grades that way. I
