It has been a long time since I have read the books but can anybody tell me if the relationship between Frodo and Samwise is as homoerotic as it is portrayed in the movies?

Not that I remember - mind you that didn't particularly hit me in the movies either. To me Samwise was just doing the job he had been asked to do to the best of his ability.

it's much as in the film. I didn't find it erotic, but then it takes all sorts, doesn't it, and you shouldn't be ashamed of feeling turned on by a hobbit, it's perfectly normal and natural

I just thought it represented the mutual respect and feeling for each other, as a result of all that they had been through and their loyalty to each other which remained strong throughout regardless. This was similarly seen in Pippin and Meriadoc. A true friendship borne of loyalty and shared emotional experiences and compassion.

The books (and films) focus throughout on loyalty and friendship, to the last. A common cause against the enemy of everything held dear.

I didn�t see anything erotic in it, homo or otherwise. If you did, then maybe you had those feelings yourself? The yearning for the heroes to embrace and live happily ever after together in the Shire?

Much as it pains me to agree with Minter, the Frodo and Sam relationship certainly did come across as homoerotic - it was all those shots of lingering, wide-eyed mooning over each other.

Mind you, nothing turns me on more than a bit of hobbit-on-hobbit action.

Or do I mean Hobbiton Hobbit action?
