Which songs have you got the 'wrong sex' of the singer in your head before seeing the video? It's understandable when it's a male 'falsetto' but the more subtle ones are creepier when you realise you got it wrong.
Bette Davis Eyes - Kim Carnes Long Time Coming - The Delays All By Myself (chorus sounds female to me) - Eric Carmen Alison Moyet Yes - David McAlmont & Bernard Butler Eternal Flame (backing vocals very masculine) - The Bangles
I remember not being able to suss out Boy George when I first heard his songs, and I was even more confused when I saw him on Top Of The Pops, i was only about 12/13 at the time though.
I thought that Bros sounded like a bunch of girls when I first heard them. I just happened to come by "when will I be famous" on the radio and was convinced it was a female voice. No wonder, they were only 17! They're still quite high pitched though!!!
"It could happend to any of us.....la la la....I made a stupid mistake", by Will Young or Gareth Gates type person. Well I always thought it was a woman. Even though the lyrics were not exactly a woman's lyrics. I should have known it was a man singing about not being able to keep his dick in his pants.
