What does vert mean at the end of certain words ie:
convert, invert, revert,divert?

Well no it doesn't really answer the question...I know those words end in vert....but what does vert mean?
To turn (from Latin 'vertere') - so turn in, turn back, turn away etc.

Thank you so much QuizMonkey...I thought maybe it was "To Change"...now I can let my students know!!
you'll also see a form of it in reverse, conversion, perverted etc. They all mean something has turned around, turned away, or something like that. Even the word 'verse' - because it meant writing that turned onto another line after a rhyming word.
