Terry Pratchett is not dead!

But he has been diagnosed with Altzheimers at the age of 59. Generally the Discworld novels are a love 'em / hate 'em experience, but since about the age of 11 I have enjoyed his books immensely and have met him several times at book signings and other events.
I am saddened, but also feel great relief that he still has time to write a few more books.

I love his books, have done so since I was 11 as well. Yet to read Making Money, but I have a book voucher heading my way this Christmas, so that'll be on my list along with "Marley and Me"!

I agree Mr P is a 'marmite' writer - i cannot get into his style at all, but know avid fans who adore him.
I recall a measure of his fame, when at our local shopping centre, the late Freddie Truman was signing copies of his autobiography at WH Smiths upstairs, and TP was signing copies of his latesr Discworld novel at Waterstones on the ground floor.
I was in Smiths, and saw one solitary person buy and get signed a copy of Fiery Fred's tome, but the queue for TP was several hundred people, lining up out of the centre doors and into the street.
