Would you recommend reading the above? I enjoyed Harry Potter but never get around to buying these

I have read the series and enjoyed it. Several people raved about it but whilst I thought it was good it's not in the same class as Lord of the Rings for example.
I have never read any of the Harry Potter books so can't compare them

Yes .. not so easy as HP.. But the film should give you a good idea... which by the way I thought was brilliant..

I thought they were very good. But while you are getting them you might like to know that there is another add on book to the trilogy available. It is called Lyra's Oxford and it is basically a short story called Lyra and the birds. It also has a fold out map of Oxford .:-D
