QM has been a stalwart of this site for years now and has answered many many questions for loads of people and provided numerous interesting links during that time.....maybe once you have a fraction of the respect and admiration that he commands then you can begin to criticise.

....the very fact he includes link in his answers goes to show that he isn't trying to claim those answers as his own and is providing further info from the sites he has obtained original info from, a good idea I would have thought.

Every one of us uses the net at different abilities. We have not all found the same websites. geedogg why dont you answer some o the questions before QM? maybe once you have a fraction of the respect and admiration that he commands then you can begin to criticise.

Naughty Geedogg! Whatever leads you to think that QM "don't actually know much"? I should say he is an informed and experienced person sharing his knowledge. He often quotes his sources not only because he checks things before going to print but also so that readers can proceed to further sudy. Now which learned University in this land would argue against that?

Normally, I wouldn't deign to respond to something such as this, but - since I clearly had to thank those who have said kind things about me here...cheers, folks!..the following is just for you, Geedogg.

I gained a Master's Degree in English at one of our ancient universities over 40 years ago. After spending the first half of my working life as a military officer, I then taught the subject at various levels - including university - for over two decades. In addition, apart from the acquisition of knowledge that almost 70 years of living tends to provide for one anyway, I have been a voracious reader since the age of five.

What I am trying to tell you is that, in spite of your theory, I do actually know quite a lot, though I happily acknowledge you could fill hangars with stuff I don't know!

The links I supply are invariably there for the questioners' benefit as I see it and they seem, generally speaking, to be well received. You are, of course, perfectly free to decry them, but I am obliged to tell you that your view will in no way impact upon my method of responding here on AnswerBank. Cheers

I have to add my comment to the defence of our favourite Quizmonster, one of my fellow veterans of the AB. I have always enjoyed his excellent breadth of knowledge about the most obscure subjects, combined with his inherently modest method of communicating it to all of us. I am sure you didn;t mean to offend Geedogg, but as you can see, we have a lot of respect for QM here, and we take attempts to upset him pretty seriously. Still, now you know.

It's people like him that make this site as useful as it is and to be honest, I'm in awe of his knowledge. If by chance he doesn't know something, then he knows how to find it out...and that's clever (unlike your post Geedogg). Go QM!!!

Although I've only visited the Answerbank for a couple of months i too wanted to say how much i am in awe of Quizmonster for both the range and extent of his knowledge and for the generosity with which he shares it...you are indeed a star sir!
