I'm 21 and female, and am going on hoilday to Ibiza next week, can anyone recommend a good book? To give you some sort of clue I liked Geisha, Lovely Bones, Lenny McLean's autobiography, Andy McNab, Sleepyhead, thrillers, exciting books!

Forgot to say, no Mills and Boon, Danielle Steel, etc.
Thriller: try the Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown. i would also recommend Tulip Fever by "somebody" Maggoch
I strongly reccomend Stephen King's 'The Stand', 'Christine' and 'Salem's Lot', and as a complete change - 'The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-time' by Mark Haddon.
The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom or anything by Joanne Harris (my favourite's Blackberry Wine)
So you're 21, Female and you're going on holiday to Ibiza to read?

Beale - I can read in the day when I am recovering!
"The DV Code" is a very entertaining thriller, but completely throwaway. If you liked "Sleepyhead" try Mo Hayder's "Birdman" (very sick) or Michael Marshall's "The Straw Men" and/or "The Lonely Dead". A bit more of an "out there" suggestion is any of Phil Rickman's "Merrily Watkins" mysteries. (I love them and wish more people would read them). They follow Merrily Watkins, single mum, vicar, and (by Book 2) exorcist through various criminal/supernatural adventures. Very easy to read and exciting. The first book is "The Wine of Angels", but while it helps to read them in order, it's not 100% essential. They're not that well known, so you may have to go to a fairly large store to find them.
That's more like it!
Try Christopher Brookmyres books - easily available.
Hi again natalie, oooh i loved lovely bones and geisha, have you tried any of the No.1 Ladies Detective Agency series - they're a real easy read and perfect for holiday, ooh and i liked the alchemist and catcher in the rye on holiday. How to be Good by Nick Hornby was another that i liked and my sister rates Harlen Coben for thrillers which i also do, if you're up for a gruesome thriller try the Mermaid's singing by Val Mcdermid - ace ace ace!
'The Wrong Boy' by Willy Russell is my favourite book of all time, its not action packed but its a really great story. have a good holiday!
forget the rest read a book called candlemoth, you will love it
All of the above excellent, should you want any more: The Star of the Sea (J. O'Connor)and A Gathering light (J. Donnelly).
If you want chick lit then try P.S. I love you - surname Aherne cant remember first name someones borrowed it! Try anything by Mariane Keyes - great light reads with lots of humour Thought Lovely Bones was a great read so you should enjoy the above!

Wow! Thanks for all your answers guys, I can now spend my lunch break wandering around book shops :D
If you like Andy McNab's Brave Two Zero, try Chris Ryan's version. It paints a slightly different picture. After I read Lenny McLean's autobiography I read Ronnie Knight's which is really interesting, but I suggest Born Fighter by Ronnie or Regiie Kray (I forgot which one wrote it).
Forgot to say, my favourite this summer was A. Capella: The food of Love. There is a website on this book, www.thefoodoflove.com I think.
"The Beach" by Alex Garland is fantastic, "Rachels Holiday" by Marianne Keyes is the funniest "chick-lit" book ever and also "join Me" its by the guy that did the Dave Gorman thing on tv..Danny something i think, anyway he's really amusing.
