I recently discovered from a friend, of a lad who attended my sons school and was continually locked in cupboard under stairs for misbehaviour by his mother. He grew into a very timid youth and was constantly bullied by his peers.
He ended beaten & murdered by youths locally. The perpetrators were imprisoned.

I found that after 'A child called it' I couldn't read these type of books anymore. I read the review on this book the other day on Play.com and although I would like to read it to see if this person has turned out ok I can't bring myself to do it. I think when you have children yourself and you love them so much it's difficult to understand why people want to torture and abuse such innocent kids.
I do agree though she should be treated the same way and she's meant to be religeous.

vehelpfulguy: I wish that before the market for this kind of "misery memoir" had become so saturated that i'd implemented my cunning plan to write the sickest, most disturbing "true story of a tortured child" that i could think of and then, having made my millions, let everyone know that i had made it all up.
Does anyone remember "Sleepers", which was made into a film? It turns out that the author may not have been entirely thruthful about what happened...

I have just logged on and read all of my replies to this thread some sicken me such as what Le Marchand has pathetically written in his last post, it isnt just based on a true story, look it up on Google or go join another thread.
Terambulan my heart aches to hear what you wrote but it doent surprise me in todays world, watch out Le merchand doesnt call you a liar.
Sachs, not money no, maybe its a type of counselling to them remember this is a child who was tortured from the age of four.,
Spanner7853, I agree.
Bigboots , Your welcome and I agree with your comment about the mighty mouth on here also.

the very very best holiday read is a jackie collins novel ,although she isn't churning them out as fast as she used to ,or any type of book like that ,one that you can pick up and put down (to get the drinks from the bar - reapply sun lotion - chat up the gang of hunks further down the beach ) the pick up again when you find they are on a stag week and they are all married, and the one you really fancied was the groom to be !!! ;-)
I cant understand why when I posted this question on Body and Soul not one person came up with a "Excuse of causing an argument saying abused people cash in and all other rubbish), in future I will keep away from Arts and Literature and allow you guys to go back to reading The Hobbit Big boots, spanner, zzxxee, I am certainly not referring to you guys, but some of these ansers have both angered me and made me wish I knew how lucky a past these others must have had. Lemarchand you disgust me. Lucky you and your life just remember the kid next door to you could have been going through hell when you were playing with barbie and ken, get a life grow up and do not respond to any of my postings we are obviously nothing alike, I have pity for the tortured and abused you seem to get a kick out of it, I could name many other sad sad TRUE stories that I have read where people are locked up due to their actions and medical examinations prove what your mind in being the first to make your millions could never do, just remember the people reading this thread could be the one in four expected people who have suffered some sought of abuse in their young lives if you are not one of them then go and watch big brother ok, i have so much more anger to say to you but cant for obvious reasons, CLEAR OFF>
zzxee, a few really harrowing ones are the following, not all true stories but knowing what we do certainly based upon what goes on in this world on a daily basis, my last book I read "Please Daddy no" by Stewart Howarth, is very sad that was a true story, his father sexually abused his 3 stepkids beyond belief and sc r e w e d the pigs on his farm made them drink urine etc etcand Stuart ended up murdering him, and got sent to various prisons he is now released but these uys have got 2 be scarred by this, other good ones are on the run by gregg and gina hill, no way home by sue martin, the place of love, nikola james, abandoned, by anya peters. Not all at all are true stories but the ones that are to you heroes out there when the first guy Stewart Howarth was locked up for killing his dad after years of torture the screws in the prison stripped searched him as bad as you can get and called him Peado names, and things you cant imagine these are supposed to be figures of authority who abuse the system and get off on it sound like some of the nobrains on here.x
I cannot see the appeal in this sort of book at all - I read for two reasons - education and enjoyment.
I got my education about this case by reading the news reports and reading the biography would certainly not be enjoyable for me, especially on holiday.
A book 'so gruesome I finished in it two days' is more fitting for a novel and there are plenty of excellent novels in the horror genre to be enjoyed.
I hope the author did find some therapeutic value to writing this biography but other peoples misery is not on my reading list.
And yes, before you criticise me, Banana-Girl, I am very aware of what goes on in the big bad world and actively support a charity for homeless young adults and have done since the 1970s.

Then ethel I fully respect what you say, you have an opinion which you express, you also understand and feel sorrow at this sought of thing which you express and thank you for both, again god gave us all free will and choice that is good but the kind of responses to this thread I would of expected on a teenage chatscribe not what I think is a pretty serious and acceptable website such as this with a varied culture , age etc of members and certainly not with what is so obviously going on in todays world what I do not accept is criticism to the people who have found writing theit stories therapeutic, but god they will never be healed ever!!. So let the people who enjoy reading these books for their own personal reasons read them and those lucky people who think the whole thing is a joke carry on but keep out of my threads.
