Well I doubt you'd like mine i'm a big Tommy Makem and the Clancy brothers fan. I drive people mad with their cds but I do like all music including classical, opera etc I dont like jazz much though. Ive got a Beautiful South CD they're good. I love country music and 50's and 60's pop.
I dont mind escapism so long as its not silly with it, I do prefer it to be a bit credible. Kojak irritated me to death sucking a lolly how many top detectives would do that.
Question Author
I have never heard of Tommy Makim or thye Clancy Brothers, what type of Music is it? I started listening to a Country and Western Radio Programme on Radio 2 for a while, the Presenter had a Character called Igor which reminded me of a Character in a Cartoon series voiced by David Jason and made by the makers of Dangermouse, but I got irritated by the Presenter so stopped listening, the Programme was a Casualty of Restructuring I think. I have watched a couple of Episodes of Kojak but that Irritates me too, I just don't like it when you know who nthe Murderer is too early as I think I have mentioned.
Hes an Irish folk singer for want of a better description or was he died not too long ago.
In crime fiction they always get their man same as the tv yet I wonder how many have comitted murder and got away with it, there must be hundreds that the body was never discovered when you consider all the ones that are turn up under patios when people move and such like. Bet theres been loads dumped at sea too.

I love Irish Music, My parents (And to some extent me ) are in to Folk Music and I used to go to Folk Clubs and we have Irish Musicians Andy Caven and Tommy Dempsey playing in our house as when the local Folk Clubs venue stopped letting them be there it was hosted in our house, I have written 2 reviews for Agatha Christie Books on Amazon, Postern Of Fate which I loved and Endless Night which I couldn't get on with,

Reading your last post made me think of 'Pale Horse' another Agatha Christie book, there are 3 cases in which reading that book made people realise that someone had been poisoned, the most recent case was in the 70s when eployees in of a Photographic firm started being ill and died, at a Meeting someone asked if the deaths could be attributed to Thallium poisoning and low and behold someone was arrested
I liked Endless Night. Funny how we like the ones the other doesnt. Wouldnt do for everyone to be the same.
You are lucky having in house entertainment specially Irish music. We went to Ireland in November it was my dream to go there and my son took me I loved every minute of it. I could live there quite happily.
Tuppenny Hat Detective is the book I was trying to think of that i'd like to read have you heard of it, its a newish one.
Question Author
Yes It's odd that books you like I don't and vusa versa but we both like Hobson's Choice and My Family and Other Animals.

I used to have penfriends when I was younger and I recently got in touch with one of them, she lives in Purdysburn in Northern Ireland, I also joined the Book Group on Friends Reunited and a Guy emailed me who like me is a Wodehouse fan, but he said he had broken the law and might be Arrestted so he doesn't email anymore,

I haven't read Tuppeny Hat Detective but it sounds great so I will look it up .
Oh dear wonder what he'd done. Least he told you and not just disappeared.
I havent read Hobsons choice yet its still sitting here ive been so busy this past two weeks, its 11.30pm now and I havent eaten today yet. Its always like this in the run up to a show i'm lucky to get to bed before 2am most nights.
I think i'll get twopenny hat book from library if they have it as its quite expensive and it might be rubbish.
I used to have a Swedish pen pal many years ago 1966 I think it must have been but we didnt write for long. My sisters still in touch with her childhood penpals from the early 60's she still visits one of them every year.
Question Author
I did wonder if the Irishman said what he said because he got bored of me, That is impressive if your sister has been in contact for 42 years, there are people who are my friends on Facebook and Friends reunited who were Care Assistants when I was at school in Malmesbury and another Chap I was at College with in Exeter as well as one chap whose Dad ran the Venture Scout Group I was a member of in Newhaven, but most of them I have only got back in contact with in the last year or so.

I shall look up the twopenny hat book again and see if it appeals to me.

Try to eat you don't want to be ill for your show.
Im sure he was genuine as its not an excuse that shows himself in a good light.
I am not a food person I am always forgetting to eat until one of the kids say Its about time you ate something. I just rarely get hungry and tend to grab a sandwich if I do, not ideal but its the way ive always been. I do have Sunday dinner but only because Jacc's invited himself to dinner ever sunday otherwise that would be a sandwich too or a bowl of cereal. I cook for my youngest every night but he doesnt eat the same things and I dont like cooking enough to cook twice.
If you see that book let me know what you think of the reviews to it. I think its the title that appeals to me.
Question Author
I looked the book up and it looks like my cup of tea, I couldn't find any reviews though, It looks like it was set in War-time, I have just tried to find it again but this time with no success, I must have missed something, Jacc probably invites himself so he can make sure you eat. I will look for information about the book and let you know what I think.
Theres quite often a mention of that book on here on the little adverts that appear at random.
Theres one or two that i've liked the look of recently but they are so expensive in hardback and I really dont like paperbacks they never last. If I see any reviews i'll let you know. I am struggling through Romeo & Juliet at the minute for my sons coursework but I am not a shakespeare fan at all. I never liked him when I was at school and the years haven't changed that.
Jacc probably invites himself to save him cooking lol
Question Author
When I want to know what a book is like I look it up on Amazon, the people who previously put reviews of 'Endless Night' gave it 4 or 5 stars, I tried to give it no stars but couldn't so gave it 1 star, there is a site called Ciao and you can put reviews on there but you have to wait for the Moderator to accept it before it appears.

Good Luck with Romeo and Juliet.
Funnily enough I came on here today and first thing I saw was an advert for that Tuppenny Hat Detective.
I rarely read reviews I never agree with them. I tend to just type the title into google and see what comes up from it. I'm dead lazy I do everything that way.

Clicked on the ad on here it took me to here

Question Author
If you are lazy well then so am I because that is exactly what I do, I just type in the name of a book and look it up thaty way, or I do it by going onto a site called kellkoo or Amazon, Thankyou for the link, I have just looked up the book and it looks like it is right up my street, I don't really know why but it put me in mind of Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew although it is years since I read them. How is Wil Shakespeare?
Still Much Ado About Nothing i'm afraid lol
Hardy Boys I loved them i'd forgotten about them. Nancy Drew was OK but Hardy Boys I loved. That takes me back more years than I care to remember lol Maybe thats why Tuppenny Hat appealed to me when I read it to without realising. Do you remember the Bobbsey twins by any chance.
Question Author
Great answer, I wish I had enough knowledge about Shakespeare plays to do your quick witted answer justice. I only read a few Hardy Boys stories but I can't remember what they were, reading them and Enid Blyton's Secret Seven Books encouraged my love of Crime Fiction, I can't remember if I read Nancy Drew stories but I loved the Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys series, The Hardy Boys are mentioned in an Episode of Frasier, The Crane Brothers wrote stories like The Hardy Boys and they are reminded of it when they find a skull in an old house their parents owned but it turns out they usd it for a Production of Hamlet and Dropped it.

I have never heard of the Bobbsey Twins and although I found some of the books on Amazon it didn't explain who the Bobbsey Twins are, To Wikipedia I go.
Dont worry about the Bobbsey twins. I collect Famous Five, Five Find Outers and other books from my childhood and had just found a Bobbsey twins in good condition with the dust jacket for 30p hence my asking.
I liked five find outers better than secret 7 but my daughter loved secret 7.
I collect Cherry Ames too about a nurse who sorts mysteries. another childhood favourite.
I might even collect Hardy boys now..make room for another bookcase it'll be the only furniture we have soon.
Question Author
Was Frederic Algynon Trottville one of the Five Find outers? If so I am with both your Daughter and you as I loved Fatty and Co and The Secret Seven, There is a company called Chorion which has the rights to both Enid Blyton and Agatha Christie stuff, I sometimes think I was born at the wrong time as I keep on hearing about Deterctives from long ago either from the Short story book I told you about or a Tommy and Tupopence short story book where Tommy and Tuppence brush up their detecting skills by solving their crimeds in the style of Fictional Detectives like Sherlock Holmes. Father Brown Roger Sherringham and the Oakwood Twins, I had never heards of the Oakwood's or Roger Sherringham, What I need is the ability to scout round Sevcond-hand book shops.
Fatty Frederick Algernon Trotterville yes Pip Daisy Larry Bets and Buster to complete the line up. Great books.
Theres quite a few second hand book shops on line now not just places like Amazon some are really cheap even with postage. My biggest problem is getting them in hardback with a dustwrapper in reasonable condition. Most lose the jackets over the years.
Again freecycle comes in handy specially for paperbacks most people want shot of them. Have you not got anyone who could collect for you but im sure if you asked the person getting rid might drop them off for you.
