As a child at school in the sixties I was read a poem that I thought was called "The Lamplighter" I cannot find it anywhere and wondered if anyone else knew of it.

Light the lamps up lamplighter the people are in the street, without no light they have no sight and where will they plant their feet, some will tread in the gutter some in the mud,oh dear, light the lamps up lamplighter because the night is here...........
Please help me remember the next verse I remember it was about Gabriel lighting up the stars

Correct. I think one word is wrong. The poem was written by my Uncle. Era correct; neighbourhood too. I can offer a full story if you wish - quite relevant. Many thanks for the unique interest!
