Does anyone know a book by this title (or similar) about a lady who moves into an old house and finds herself travelling back in time.

Yes i have read the book,its called Marianna shes an illustrator who buys a house that she saw when she was a child and felt drawn to,and as you say travels back in time.I really enjoyed it ,i think the author was Susannah Kearsley/Kersley.
If you like this type of book i can recommend Barbara Erskine The Kingdom of Shadows and one that i cant remember the name of.Daphne Du maurier wrote one that goes back in time called The House On the Strand.If you can recommend any to me it would be much appreciated

Diana Gabaldon ...Cross Stitch and all the sequels. They are wonderful stories.
Have you read " The Time Traveller's Wife" by Audrey Niffeneger? Not an historical novel but about time slip in modern times.

Polly, do you mean Lady of Hay by Barbara Erskine? All Barbara Erskine's books follow the same theme, but House of Echoes really gave me the creeps.

Yes thats the one!Was that the one set on the coast something to do with Romans,its a long time since i read it,and yesit was creepy.

Polly, the one set on the coast and about Romans is called 'Midnight Is A Lonely Place' - a really good read. All Barbara Erskine's books echo back to places and people from the past.
If you like that sort of thing Anya Seton's 'Green Darkness' is also really good but you'll probably have to hunt it down in a second-hand bookshop as I read it decades ago.
