novel set in Dublin

Hi. I\\\\\\\'m hoping someone can help me to find the title of a novel that I read many years ago. The heroine is a Victorian Dublin girl who aspires to become an artist. She rebels against her straight laced family and lives a rather unconventional life until she is badly disfigured in an accident when she is thrown from an overturned carriage. My recollection is hazy, but I think she becomes reclusive after this, and more than this I cannot recall. I cannot remember the title or author, but hope this brief description rings a bell with someone. Looking forward to hearing from someone with a similar taste in literature!
