and the horrific shooting of the US soldiers in Texas, yesterday our own brave soldiers, now this!
but what struck me was President Obama when he was sending condolences to the bereaved families, always has the stars and stripes behind him no matter where he is and whatever speech he's delivering...
Qs...Why don't we fly the flag? the only time it is seen is in the USA when Brown or Blair before him, went there.
I's not a case of offending anyone! because the USA is a huge melting pot, but they fly their flag with pride, everyone under the same banner, they even sing their National Anthem with gusto, whereas our big earning footballers, bareley mutter it...
Why????

Bobbi, Point taken about the footballers, Do you mean the England football team or do you mean football clubs in general. If you mean football clubs in general, FA cup final etc then most of the players involved aren't British. !
Sorry Bobbi, I forgot to sign my post above
His Grace tonyav Duke of the West Midlands. lol
Because it's cheap.

Politicians wrapping themselves in the flag is an obvious and crude attempt to gain brownie points by appealing to feelings of patriotism.

It's insulting because it assumes that the audience is too dumb to see through such an obvious ploy

As Johnson had it "The last refuge of the scoundrel"

That's why you see Griffen at it all of the time

The US is a different culture like that it's almost mandatory there - but it's still cheap
