Need help balancing a few equations..
8 Answers
Hey, I'm having some serious problems with trying to balance the following equations. I've pickled my head it seems so I can't even get my head around them. Could someone give me some help please.
Mg(s) + O₂(g) −−−−→ MgO(s)
Is this balanced - 2Mg(s) + O₂(g) −−−−→ 2MgO(s) ?
Fe(s) + O₂(g) −−−−→ Fe₂O₃(s)
Cu(s) + O₂(g) −−−−→ CuO(s)
Thanks in advance, my head hurts! :)

Thanks Ice.Maiden, I've been to that site and it just confuses me, I've found one a little easier to understand.
2Mg(s) + 1O₂(g) → 2MgO(s)
2Fe(s) + 3O₂(g) → 1Fe₂2O₃(s)
2Cu(s) + 1O₂(g) → 2CuO(s)
I'm pretty rusty but I think I'm getting there :) all I need to know how is if these are right, also do you have to specify '1' or can you just leave it, f.ex
2Cu(s) + O₂(g) → 2CuO(s) INSTEAD OF 2Cu(s) + 1O₂(g) → 2CuO(s)
Thanks again Ice.Maiden I appreciate you taking the time to find a website :)
