Sorry this is so long in advance..
Oh man! I am so confused right now.
Basically, I need to do 5 highers by the time I leave school in order to get into University. I am currently moving into 5th year so have two more years left of school. So far I have chosen Geogrpahy, Chemistry, Biology, and English all at higher and Health & Food Technology at Intermediate 2.
But I have now decided that I really want my 6th year to be a good, easy, fun year as it will be my last year and I want to get all my Highers over and done with in 5th year rather than having to pick up an extra one in 6th year. Health & Food Tech don't offer a Higher course and to be honest, if I took Home Economics at Higher it would get me nowhere. WHAT SUBJECT SHOULD I TAKE FOR HIGHER?! I'm soooooooooooo stuck.
Everyone says I should take Business Management for Higher but I really don't enjoy the subject at all and I think if I really don't enjoy it, why should I do it and have to study a subject I'm not even interested in and I don't enjoy? Or I'm thinking about French for Higher but I just hate all the speaking and writing internal assessments you get throughout, it's alot of work and I don't know if I want to do it.
Any more ideas? I just need help really haha!

What do you want to do at University or when you leave?

What other interest do you have?

That looks a pretty heavy schedule so far, so maybe something a bit lighter would be good. What about something art related or design?
I'm confused, do you mean you are going in to 5th year in September? If so surely you have 3 years to go before finishing 6th form and going to Uni? Also I thought it was called yr 11 these days, are you in the UK?
Scottish system Prudie.
Aah, well then my advice would be to pick a subject that relates to what you are going to do at Uni if you know already. You seem to have a science leaning, how about maths or IT?

Yeah I'm Scottish sorry!
At University I want to do something science or medical related. Chemsitry or Biology if I can or maybe Pediatric Nursing (spelling isn't right there, I know!)
Other interests are Geography really.. haha. I took Art and Design last year and dropped it because I was so bad at it so I don't think that's a possiblility really...
No way am I doing Maths! God no. Hate hate hate it. Maybe IT though, that's a thought... thanks!
Well let's face it there are very few places you could end up where you won't need IT skills. Sorry I didn't know about the Scottish system I'll have to learn about it!
Is Psychology an option? It's quite a scientific subject and would go well with your other choices...
I wouldn't bother Prudie - I think it is going to change a again!
A word of warning. If you're looking to study biology or chemistry at university you'll need to take maths for your highers. Both subject areas rely heavily upon advanced mathematics. (When I was studying for my maths degree I got fed up of constantly having to help the biology students with their maths, despite the fact that they'd all taken maths for their A-levels or Highers. Chemistry requires even more maths).

In fact nearly all sciences at university have a fairly high reliance upon mathematics, so you'll either need to commit yourself to studying it at Higher level or to rethink your university options. (You won't be accepted for any university course in chemistry or biology without Higher maths. You'll also be rejected from most other science-based courses).

Assuming that you don't take maths, and depending upon what's available at your school, you might like to consider Sociology, Psychology or Philosophy for your final subject choice.

You'll need maths and English with good grades if you are considering going into nursing too.
That occurred to me as well, Boxtops, but you probably don't require 'Higher' passes (which are roughly equivalent to English A-levels) in those subjects for nursing.

Chris
I'm sure I wasn't even allowed to take chemistry and physics A levels unless I took the maths a levels.

Oh my god. This gets worse haha! I am dwelling upon French now, I don't mind it.. anyway I am going to see my guidance teacher and see if she can help me. We don't have any sort of Physchology-related subjects available unfortunately but.. thanks for the help guys!
And yeah Prudie... it's changing AGAIN so no point in learning it yet! So annoying that it keeps changing haha!
