Yes, it was my sister's favourite book in the early 70s.  It was originally published in 1956 and a reprint is available from Amazon

Wow that was one hell of a book, I remember it well and I can even remember the tone of my Mum's voice when she did all the different voices for the different vehicles. It was a classic.

Oh My Goodness! I too remember this book and now I have just spent 20minutes thinking about the happy times I spent reading this and others to my sons........oh well back to work!!

Yes, was one of my favourite books (late sixties / early seventies). I loved the pictures in it, very 50's looking 'realism' paintings, but, of course, the vehicles had faces on them.

My nephew had a early 90's edition, and the pictures were all modern, cartoon-y-type rubbish. I was most disappointed !!

My mother is now keeping an eye out for an old edition for my young son !!
